Hey there Yusheeka Gray here with DIY Credit, and I wanna talk to you about the number one reason I was able to delete. Seven student loans from my credit reports and how you can too. By the time you're done watching this video, you should have a pretty good understanding of exactly what you need to do to remove student loans from your credit reports.

Now, this pretty much applies only to older, closed or transferred student loans. I have a completely different video for open student loans that you can check out. But in this case if you have older, closed or transferred student loans, what you need to do or know first is that these accounts are managed by collection agencies.

And collection agencies are governed by the FDCPA, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. So what you need to do is call and find out the name of the collection agency that's actually reporting your student loan. And here's the thing on your credit report, it's going to show as US Department of Education or something like that. However you have to, in the contact section, they are going to have an address and a phone number. If you call that phone number, you will find out and discover that they actually are a collection agency, if you ask. So it is not the US Department of Education that's reporting that account. It's actually a collection agency.

Just find out who they are, what their address is, and then you can dispute with them as such. I hope this video has been helpful. I hope you learned something new from this video.
